iPhone Users: 2 Easy Steps to Erase Your iPhone


There are basically two main reason why one would want to erase their iPhone, it may either be because you are getting a new one, or the one you are have is having problems.

Erasing data from your iPhone is pretty much easy, especially if you are simply looking to just erase your apps and data and reinstall them afresh. But most importantly this article are for those who plan on selling their iPhone so as not to leave any of their personal data to the buyer.

To erase your iPhone you have to adhere to the following steps:

  • Step 1: Back up your iPhone data
The fastest way to back your data on your iPhone is to go to settings and tap your info at the very top of the app. Tap the iCloud section, scroll to iCloud Backup, tap the selection, an on the next screen, tap Back Up now. Doing that you have successfully backed up all your data on your iPhone.

You can also back up your iPhone to your Mac or PC using iTunes. The fastest way is to connect the iPhone to you computer using a USB cable, which will display the iPhone info dashboard within iTunes, with a clearly defined "Back Up Now" Button.

After the back up is completed,tap to go back to the iCloud setting screen and stroll down to Find My iPhone. This step is very important if you do not intend using the iPhone again. (The iPhone will prompt you for an iCloud name and password to deactivate Find My iPhone before the Erase begins,but it's good to get this out of the way now. If this step is skipped the next owner will be unable to use the iPhone.

  • Step 2: Erase
Now that your iPhone data are backed up, it's time to erase your iPhone. Go to Setting app and tap on the general section. Scroll to the bottom and tap Reset. On the next screen,tap Erase All Contents and Settings.

In this section you will see several options: Reset All Settings, which does not delete your data; Reset Network Settings, which is self-explanatory; and other options that lets you reset keyboard dictionary, your home screen or geolocation and privacy data.

After you tap the Erase All Contents and Settings, that's it; Your iPhone will remove your data and turn the device to factory defaults.
